2025 Soybean BCT Results

Another year of BrettYoung Comparison Trials (BCTs) has wrapped up, and it’s time to review the results. Justine Cornelsen, BrettYoung’s Agronomic and Regulatory Services Manager, says the 2025 trials focused on commercial soybean varieties suited for mid- and long-maturity zones.

“This year we evaluated three new experimental varieties, and one in particular demonstrated strong, consistent performance,” Cornelsen said. “Our goal is to expand the options available to growers in the Red River Valley, especially those farming in long-season areas.”

Manitoba’s early frost created additional challenges in 2025, affecting later-seeded and later-maturing varieties across parts of the province. The results highlight the ongoing importance of aligning variety selection and relative maturity with the correct maturity zone and seeding window to reduce risk and safeguard yield potential.
