In one of our biggest trialing years yet, BrettYoung branded soybeans stood up to the test. Three soybean BrettYoung Comparison Trials (BCTs) were conducted in Manitoba during the 2024 growing season, each focused on collecting more performance data from last year’s new varieties while taking a closer look at three new products and one experimental one.
BrettYoung Agronomic and Regulatory Services Manager Justine Cornelsen said the soybean deployments in 2023 focused on the mid-maturity varieties, while this year’s this year’s trials broadened the focus to include earlier products as well.
“This year’s focus is finding a new early to mid maturing variety to meet the needs of our shorter growing zones within Manitoba and Saskatchewan,” she said. “BCTs help us to do just that.”
Soybeans had a slow start to the year with cooler spring temperatures, but yields didn’t disappoint — all locations saw our varieties performing well above the provincial yield average.
