To celebrate an innovative year with BrettYoung’s canola genetics supplier, DL Seeds, and show appreciation to BrettYoung customers, the “Use DefendR, Win a Defender” contest offered canola producers a chance to win a brand new Can-Am Defender side-by-side valued at over $25,000. Participants qualified by purchasing at least 16 bags of a BrettYoung canola hybrid between September 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025.

BrettYoung is excited to share that Tappauf Joint Ventures is the winner of the contest!
The Tappaufs has been substantial BrettYoung customers, consistently using TruFlex® hybrids for their canola fields for years. And now that BrettYoung has launched several new and innovative LibertyLink® canola hybrids they intend to explore those as well.
A well-known name in their Alberta community, the Tappauf family has been delivering high-quality canola and maintaining sustainable farming practices for generations. They started using BrettYoung hybrids at least a decade ago, and now they say they’ll never go back.
“We keep growing it because it delivers proven results,” said Carl Tappauf. “I think BrettYoung will always be part of our seed program,” Added Edwin Tappauf.
The Tappaufs have planted multiple BrettYoung canola hybrids, and they’ve been continually impressed by the varieties’ maturity, harvestability and consistency. Gary Tappauf also noted how this year’s dry stretch tested the capabilities of disease resistance traits such as clubroot DefendR and blackleg DefendR, but they still demonstrated strong performance and allowed for a successful harvest.
Now, the family’s operation has a new vehicle to make fieldwork more efficient across their acreage.
“It’s very exciting and it makes us feel valued. It’s nice to know BrettYoung appreciates our business,” said Kevin Tappauf.
Congrats to the Tappaufs and thank you for being such a supportive BrettYoung grower!
