DeltaGard contains the active ingredient deltamethrin, a third generation (much improved) synthetic pyrethroid insecticide. Pyrethroids are man made versions of a natural insecticides (pyrethrins) derived from the chrysanthemum species. Pyrethroids are typically fast acting and degrade quickly in the environment. They generally exibit high toxicity to insects and low toxicity to man.
